Can I get an estimate over the phone?
There are some cases where we can give a firm price over the phone/email, or without visiting a potential jobsite. Small projects like power washing or gutter cleaning can be done over the phone or email and estimates for larger projects such as new construction painting where exact dimensions exist on paper, can sometimes be done via email. Most projects, especially residential painting, require a visit to ensure an accurate painting estimate.

Okay, Can I get an approximate price over the phone?
Absolutely! We enjoy talking about painting work, and usually feel comfortable giving a rough figure with a wide range for interior and exterior painting. However, please don’t hold us to a number until we visit your home or office!

How much will it cost to paint my home?
There are many factors that influence the price of your painting needs, including skill and equipment required, how quickly you the work needs to be completed, the condition of the surfaces to be painted, and of course the overall size of the project, to name just a few. Some jobs, such as interior trim painting, & decorative painting, require a skilled craftsman, and have a higher rate per hour than jobs like wallpaper stripping and cleaning gutters. Some tasks, including painting a two-story hallway, require special equipment and expertise so cost more than work to be done on the ground. Painting jobs with a flexible deadline cost less than a task that is urgent. Surfaces in good condition cost less to paint than surfaces that are rusty, dirty, or peeling.

How is the work scheduled?
We value our client’s time. Our all-star teams of professional painters are experienced and flexible, and able to accommodate most scheduling requests. In the many cases, the time requirements for a job are a little loose (i.e. “Paint house exterior before it is cold outside”), and we easily complete painting jobs in the order in which estimates are accepted and painting work is assigned.

Who will be doing the work?
The best painters in Raleigh NC will paint to your home or office. We are completely professional, conscientious painters who have demonstrated interest and discipline in learning the trade of house painting. All projects are managed by Alan Sullivan, and usually one of them is onsite at all times, leading by example.

Will the paint cover in just one coat?
We sure wish we knew! After watching paint dry for many years, we are pretty good at calculating how many coats a painting project should take to cover. However, once and a while we do get it wrong. The type of paint used, porosity of the surface, overall surface condition, and color of new and old paints all affect the number of coats required. In short: Use good paint and put it on kind of thick!

What color(s) should I use?
It’s your home or business so make it any color you wish! If there are too many color options to choose from, call us and we’ll help! Our team has painted enough houses to know what paint colors look good (and not so good).

How long does it take the paint to dry?
For most interior painting and exterior painting jobs with standard latex paint, the surface is dry to the touch within an hour. Paint can take several days to fully dry, but won’t rub off if you brush against it. So, if you wanted us to paint your bedroom, you won’t have to miss a night’s sleep. Some specialty coatings, such as garage floor paint & specialty commercial paint, stay wet longer and require an area to be unused for a few days.

Should I move my furniture, personal items, etc. before you arrive?
Our professional painters will be glad to prepare your space for interior painting, including moving furniture. If you want to help us by getting the room ready for painting, we would appreciate it.

Can I borrow a book of color samples? (fan deck/chip book)
Yes, if we have any left! The paint color decks are very popular. We always have a color deck in our painting trucks, so there will be one around for the painting estimate and while the work is being completed. For interior painting, we usually leave a deck with our client for a few days to help you in choosing paint colors.

Should I paint aluminum siding or gutters?
Yes, if you would like. We have painted a lot of exterior metal surfaces, on both residential and commercial paint jobs. On commercial paint jobs, there is an obvious reason for the paint application. On residential jobs the reason for applying paint is aesthetic. In many cases, older siding or guttering looks a lot better with a coat of paint. However, if it’s painted once, it will have to be painted again someday.
